About Stephanie

Stephanie Cowan is a Connection Specialist, Speaker and Social Artist based in San Francisco.

Her work lives at the intersection of belonging, creativity, and community. She designs experiences that help people feel more like themselves and more connected to each other.

Stephanie found belonging for the first time in her adult life in New York City, inside a community where curiosity, creativity, and emotional honesty were celebrated. For the first time, her brightness and “too-muchness” were not something to soften or explain. They were welcomed as gifts. That experience quietly rewired her understanding of what was possible when people feel truly included.

Then the pandemic arrived, and that sense of connection disappeared almost overnight. Isolation set in. and she found herself feeling the depths of loneliness. Eventually, Stephanie felt a clear pull to begin again and moved across the country to San Francisco to be closer to her brothers, trusting a deep intuition that her big bright life was waiting for her there.

Instead of waiting for community to find her, she began experimenting. She hosted a playful gathering in her home called Club New Friends. The intention was for her to make friends quickly. Over two years she tweaked the formula to be designed not for networking but for real human connection that could lead to meaningful friendships, foster belonging and in turn, create a safe space for people to heal. What began as a personal experiment revealed itself as something much bigger. She realized that this format needed to be shared with the world to connect as many people in joy and authenticity as possible.

Over the next several years, Stephanie refined what she was intuitively creating, studying connection, weaving in science, and shaping a repeatable experience. That evolution became The Drop In and, alongside it, her work as a speaker. Today, she brings these tools into rooms around the country, helping people remember what it feels like to belong. It is not just her work, it is her life’s calling.

What Lives at the Heart of Her Work

Her work is rooted in a simple truth. When people feel belonging, their lives begin to blossom. When people feel seen, loved, and valued for who they are, a sense of safety emerges. And within that safety, healing, creativity, and purpose naturally unfold.

Everything Stephanie creates is designed to support that process. Through speaking, facilitation, and The Drop In, she builds containers where people can soften, open, and reconnect with themselves and with one another. Her style is playful, grounded, research-informed, and infused with warmth and humor. People often say they feel more like themselves after spending time in her spaces. That is her favorite compliment.

Stephanie believes the secret to the universe is each other.

In a world shaped by speed, isolation, and constant distraction, Stephanie’s work is a loving interruption. It invites people back into community, their bodies and their own unique aliveness. Again and again, she creates experiences that remind people they are not alone, that connection is not a luxury, and that the most aligned life is one where you are able to share your gifts with the world.

Let’s be Friends!
